WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) recently highlighted the Senate's progress on annual appropriations, stating that "the Senate completed its work on annual appropriations for six major areas of the federal government." McConnell praised the efforts of Senators Collins and Murray, emphasizing their commitment to regular order and good faith negotiations.

McConnell expressed satisfaction with the conservative accomplishments included in the agreement, particularly those that address the needs of Kentuckians. He noted, "I’m especially pleased that it will advance priorities near and dear to the hearts of my fellow Kentuckians — from rural transportation to military readiness to stopping the flow of illegal drugs."

The Senator also discussed the significant impact of the funding on Kentucky, mentioning the allocation of resources to military installations in the state. McConnell highlighted the funding for critical construction projects at Fort Knox and Fort Campbell, emphasizing their importance to America's national defense strategy. Additionally, resources have been allocated for a National Guard training range in Greenville, Kentucky, a project that had been neglected for nearly two decades.

A substantial portion of the funding will benefit rural communities in Kentucky and Middle America. This includes investments in infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and water systems, as well as efforts to expand broadband access across the Commonwealth. McConnell also emphasized the allocation of resources to combat the opioid crisis, a significant issue affecting Kentucky.

In closing, McConnell expressed his pride in the Senate's completion of a major portion of government funding responsibilities, stating, "I was glad the Senate finished the job on a major portion of our government funding responsibilities. And I was especially proud to deliver on some of my fellow Kentuckians’ top priorities."
